# QR code scanner

A [QR code](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code) is a two-dimensional barcode that can encode any type of information, such as a website URL, product details, or text.

Allow Yandex Start to [access](https://yandex.com.tr/support2/yandex-app-android/en/app/permissions.md) your camera and files in the device settings.

To open the QR code scanner:

1. Tap ![](../_assets/smart-camera.svg) in the [SmartBox](https://yandex.com.tr/support2/yandex-app-android/en/app/search.md#search).
1. Choose **Search** mode.
1. Point your smartphone at the QR code.
1. Choose the suggested action.
